Concern
Copilot CLI does not appear to remove its older versions/copies. Over time these stale background copies accumulate instead of being cleaned up.
Request
Please make Copilot CLI retain only the latest three copies — including the live (currently running) one — and automatically remove all older background copies. This could be done:
- automatically on update/startup (prune anything beyond the latest three), or
- via a cleanup/prune command or setting (e.g.
copilot --prune / a configurable retention count).
Notes
- I have not pinned down the exact on-disk location where the older copies accumulate; maintainers, please confirm where versioned copies are stored so retention can be applied there.
- Keeping a small number (three) rather than just one preserves a rollback fallback while bounding disk usage.
