The CLI currently creates version tags without downloadable binaries. Publish Linux x86-64 and macOS ARM64 archives and SHA-256 checksums to GitHub Releases so users can install without compiling Rust.
Build and smoke-test the packaged executables on Ubuntu 22.04 and macOS 14. Connect publishing directly to the existing tag workflow, build the exact tagged commit, and backfill the current tag if it has no published release. Upload through a draft release so failures can be retried without exposing a partial release or overwriting a published one.
Document platform requirements, checksum verification, installation, and version-pinned downloads in the README. Existing dependency-pair tags are preserved.
Validation: the original PR CI passed on Linux x86-64 and macOS ARM64, including release builds, archive checksums, extraction,
--version, and a SQL query. Updated the branch againstmain(Vortex 0.87.0 / DataFusion 55.1.0), resolving the README conflict while preserving the dependency upgrade. Checks for the updated head are pending. No local builds, tests, or linters were run; the publishing path runs only after merge tomain.
